Bozo On A Bike

What is this blog about?

I have been dreaming of a trip driving across the Americas for going on 12 years now. Originally I fantasied about making the trip in a VW Westy. After years of dreaming, the dreams materialized into reality, and the reality became a motorcycle. I plan to ship my motorcycle from San Francisco to Santiago, Chile in a few days. I will fly down and meet it come mid October 2019. Plan is to spend the Southern Hemisphere summer riding south to the tip of the continent, Ushuaia, fishing and camping along the way. After about four months in Patagonia I will then ride north on a “Second Leg” of the trip through northern Argentina/Chile continuing on to Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia.

Once I feel I am done, or money dictates, I will ship my scooter over or around the Darian Gap to Panama. This I am calling the “Third Leg” and the plan is obvious, north to the states. Outside of a summer in Patagonia fishing with my own transportation I really have no other plans or must do’s. My thoughts are; explore more fishable water, maybe hike a volcano, lobster fish off the beach, play wanta be Bourdain, smoke cigarettes, drink coffee and mate, and the list goes on . No big plans, no big deals, and that’s the way I am keeping it. As excited as I am to tear up Patagonia I am equally as excited to ride through and experience Central America and Mexico. Cuba isn’t a far swim from either and if the option to go is there I will take it. Really it will all come down to money because time I have!

The reasons for starting this blog are many. The first that comes to mind is to keep family and friends up to date with my journey. Another is, it’s great way to keep my own personal journal along the way in real time. Among many other reasons I would like this page to hopefully be a place where others can come to get current real time information on the ins and outs of doing the same thing or something similar. I discovered when finally starting to prep for my trip that so much of the information that comes up is out of date. Even though the actual boots on the ground part of my trip doesn’t technically start until I touch down in Santiago this October 13th, 2019, so much time and energy has already been put into it. Not only has it been time and energy but it is the actual backbone of the entire trip. I’m talking which bike to ride, what gear I need, seasons and tentative dates, bike shipping, motorcycle and travel insurance, countries to visit, visas,… and the list goes on. I will post more on each of those, my processes and decisions, and how I came to those. For now, I am just letting my thoughts fly and my finger type to get it all rolling.

Soon to follow will be and extensive and detailed blog full of a what I hope to be valuable and useful information as well as a mans thoughts, feelings, and emotions as he is in the process of realizing one of his biggest dreams and achieving his second biggest goal to date. End of it all I am just another Bozo on a Bike. I have no fucking clue what I am doing, but, I am doing. This whole thing is for me and only me but I also want to share so that others can see that what they want or desire is possible and can be achieved. Whether it be a round the world bike trip or simply making a move to start a new career, it can be done.

Also, I am not a writer, English major, or dictionary so there may be grammatical errors through this blog. If you find any please don’t correct them, or me. Instead, go fuck yourself and get your own blog. Please know that moving forward in this blog there will be crude language not suitable for all. If you are a pussy, please stop reading and go back to the comments section you came from. Stick only to posting your stupid, uninformed, ego driven, self centered, entitled, fucking YELP reviews.
